Day 4

We greet you at your home in the morning and travel to Brisbane Airport, to arrive in Hobart early-afternoon. Our first adventure is the Mount Wellington Explorer Bus Tour, which takes us to the 4,170-foot summit of this famous landmark for stunning views and an incredible welcome to Tasmania.
Leaving the mountain, we descend into Hobart’s historic Salamanca district for our 4.5-star accommodation. Relax in your self-contained suite, or indulge in the hotel’s offerings, including a cocktail bar and enclosed rooftop heated pool & spa. Life in the heart of Salamanca has many amazing dining options, so exploring for dinner of your own choosing is part of the adventure!

Our day begins with a visit to the Salamanca Market, which sees over 300 stalls fill the length of Salamanca Place. You will find a huge selection of locally made products and you can meet the makers, artisans, designers and producers. Explore the market and take in the historical ambience of an area lined with plane trees and 1830s sandstone Georgian warehouses converted to Hobart’s best restaurants, cafes, bars, galleries & specialty shops.
In the afternoon, we visit Port Arthur, a UNESCO Australian Convict Sites World Heritage Property. Discover the stories of people like William Thompson, who was transported for burglary and endured the horror of underground cells in the Coal Mines; headstrong convict servant Margaret Dalziel, who couldn’t seem to stay out of trouble; and Commandant William Champ, whose vision for a shady refuge for the ladies of the settlement endures in Port Arthur’s beautiful gardens.

Today we have the incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in the most remote part of Tasmania; the Southwest National Park. This wilderness area is largely only accessible by plane or boat… so we’re exploring it by both! Taking off from the Cambridge Aerodrome, we soar through this spectacular region before landing deep in the park for a boat cruise on the Melaleuca Inlet and Bathurst Harbour.
This amazing full-day journey will show you the landscapes of Tasmania undisturbed by European settlers; button grass plains, silent rainforests, snow-capped mountains, wild rivers and flooded valleys inland; and some of the most breathtaking coastal wilderness in all of Tasmania. These truly are sights that must be seen to be appreciated for their full scale and beauty.

Enjoy a relaxed start to your Monday before we visit a secret destination. We promise you’ll love this Tasmanian farewell! Then it is time to say goodbye to the southernmost state and return to Queensland. Take in the views one last time from the plane as we leave Hobart Airport, then relax among friends as the journey takes you home to your front door.
